Free time

What can I do in my free time?

SOCIAL PROGRAMME

A social programme is available on a weekly timetable. Our Student Liaison Officer will help you to choose where to go and what to do. Full day trips are organised for groups of students. Weekend trips to various places in Ireland are available on arrangement. Students who wish to travel for a weekend away can ask for help in reserving rooms, trains, etc.

FACILITIES IN ATC

We have a comfortable canteen with microwave, toaster, sandwich toaster, filtered water and hot drinks available. Both soft drinks and snacks are available from vending machines outside the canteen.

There is a student computer room with 24 networked computers using wireless broadband. Email and internet access is free. The building also has Wi-Fi access throughout for students wishing to use their own laptops.

We also have a student common room with large flat screen TV and DVD player for students wishing to watch a movie in the afternoon.

STUDY FACILITIES

Students may choose two areas to study. The computer room (room 14) can be used for internet and CD-Rom study aids to help students with grammar, vocabulary, dictionary work and business English practice. We have CD Roms for specific practice ( for example: Telephoning in English, Let’s Do Business Series).

The library (Rooms 5) can be used for quiet study and homework. Graded readers and authentic reading matter, novels etc, are available here. The Director of Studies also has a range of materials for study of English for Specific Purposes (for example: Aviation, Medical, Management, Information Technology, Electrical and Mechanical Engineering, Military and Academic English.

FACILITIES IN BRAY

Bray is a busy suburban town, with a complete range of activities on offer to all.

Sports facilities available include golf, sailing and bowling. There is a gym beside the school which offers special monthly rates to ATC students. The local football team, Bray Wanderers, has its stadium beside the train station, and regular fixtures are on Friday nights. Ask our Student Liaison Officer about other sports on offer.

There are some wonderful walks locally, along the cliffs to Greystones and Enniskerry and the famous Powerscourt Estate is only 15 minutes by bus from Bray. Bray Seafront is 2km in length and the harbour, a short walk from ATC, is home to both swans and seabirds
